Gold particles came into notice for its nonlinear optical effect and this effect depends on the density of particles in the layer. We improved upon the method of preparing gold particles by gelatin layer in using photographic film. Ultra-fine grain (FUG) emulsion seems to be suitable to condense the particles and we took notice of hologram-recording plates. We estimated characteristics of the particles by the absorption spectrum and the size distribution. The plate showed very large and sharp plasmon absorption with no bulk absorption of gold metal. The particles stopped growing at around 20-30 nm but the number of them increased with the immersion period. This suggests that UFG emulsion is desirable to this purpose.
