This paper describes an application of matrix method with curved and cylindrical-shell elements to the stress analysis of a cylindrical shell with reinforced circular holes. The purpose of the present analysis is to develop the general method for stress problems with mixed boundary conditions which contain both the mechanical and geometrical boundary surfaces. Effects of the distance between neighbouring reinforced holes and the boundary of loading edge are studied. Experiments are also made on two specimens, and good agreement is found between experimental and calculated values.
