    In the previous paper, a method for prediction of fatigue life of the necked out type fracture was proposed and in this report, an evaluation of low cycle fatigue life of general types under cyclic loading and straining was discussed. Fatigue damage may be regarded as a decrease of ductility caused by cyclic creep rate Δ ε m or cyclic plastic strain range Δ ε p , and the life is used up when the damage is accumulated and reached to a certain critical value, and the value is assumed to be equal to the general elongation of material ε u 0 from the engineering point of view. The decrease of ductility due to cyclic creep rate is considered to be equal to ∑ Δ ε m , but as the decrease due to cyclic plastic strain range may be affected by many factors and relation between the decrease and the factors has not been known clearly, the decrease of ductility is assumed to be represented by a simple form of plastic strain range ∑ Δ ε a p . The fatigue damage is divided into three ones, D 1, D N -1 and D N , D 1 is the damage due to the first cycle and D N -12 is the one due to the second to ( N -1) cycle and D N is to the last cycle, then the damage is expressed by the following form. D = D 1+ D N -12+ D N The damages D 1 and D N are different from D N -12 and are essentially equal to that under unrepeated statical load. From the above assumption, the life is estimated by the following equation. D 1+ N -12 ( Δ ε m + Δ εa p ) + D N u 0 In order to prove the validity of the equation, mild steel specimens were tested under constant repeated axial load and strain, and the test results were compared with the values calculated by the equation, and fairly good agreements between them were obtained.
