Captive model tests, free running model test and actual ship trials for investigating manoeuvrability of a training ship are carried out. At sea trial of the training ship, data for ship speed, propeller revolution, wind speed and direction, current speed and direction and so on are collected through information processing system using local area network equipped in the training ship. Simulation model is constructed based on experimental information of captive model tests. After confirming that this simulation is valid by comparing calculated model ship motions with those of free running model tests data manoeuvring motions of the training ship at sea are simulated by calculation. It is clarified that data obtained through the information processing system using local area network of the training ship is reliable and that simulation well describes manoeuvring motion of the training ship at sea even in wind and current conditions.
