摘要：O artigo versa sobre o uso da luz natural como diretriz de projeto na obra de Oscar Niemeyer. Elemento que, superando condicionantes da luminotécnica, torna-se matéria própria da arquitetura, respondendo às questões funcionais mas também sendo moldada para emocionar. Para tanto, faz-se considerações sobre acontecimentos lumínicos em edifícios emblemáticos da história da arquitetura, sobre o cenário conceitual que norteia o discurso de Niemeyer, e sobre a análise de algumas de suas obras. Finalmente, elabora-se um balizamento entre os principais conceitos relacionados à temática da luz e aos objetos construídos vivenciados.

This is an element that, as it is conditioning techniques, becomes a matter of architecture itself, providing answers to questions of function and also being shaped to cause emotion. Therefore, considerations are made about lightning events in significant buildings in the history of architecture; about the conceptual setting on which Niemeyer’s discourse is based; and about the analysis of some of his works. Finally, a demarcation is established as to the main concepts concerning the theme of light and the constructed and experienced objects.
