摘要：Resumo Esta pesquisa tratou da relação de crianças com cegueira com seus irmãos mais velhos e teve como objetivo buscar a compreensão de como essa relação se configura. Apoiou-se na abordagem qualitativa seguindo os procedimentos metodológicos definidos por Lüdke e André (1986), buscando analisar os dados a partir de categorias definidas levando em conta os objetivos da pesquisa e o conteúdo das entrevistas e do Teste das Fábulas embasado em referencial psicanalítico. Os sujeitos de pesquisa foram três mães de crianças com cegueira e seus filhos com a idade de nove ou dez anos. Foram realizadas entrevistas com todos os sujeitos. Os dados obtidos apontam que as crianças com cegueira buscam em seus irmãos fonte de prazer, companheirismo e modelos de identificação, mesmo quando possuem uma relação conflituosa. Os achados desta pesquisa confirmaram que esta relação influencia o desenvolvimento dos indivíduos e sugerem que são necessários outros estudos acerca deste tema. Palavras-chave : cegueira; relação fraterna; relação familiar; criança. Abstract This is a research involving the relationship among congenital blind children and older siblings. The research targets, the understanding of how is the blind children relationship with their older siblings by conducting interviews with them and their parents. The presently study is supported by qualitative focus and follow the methodological procedure defined by Lüdke and André (1986). The study seeks to analyze the data with defined categories by the objectives of the study and the interview and legend test based in the psychoanalytic theory. Three congenital blind children and their mothers were taken as subjects for this research. The children ages were nine or ten years old. Interviews were carried out with mothers and children, and the legend test was applied with the children. Drawn conclusion from data collection points out that blind children, even in a brotherly conflicting relationship, find on the siblings a pleasurable source, companionship and most of times a self identification model. The research findings stress the point that the brotherly relationship is highly important for the congenital blind children development, suggestions are made for additional studies to be taken over this fact in order to lead our knowledge to a broader understanding over this subject.
