摘要：El artículo estudia tres pinturas murales del siglo xvi en el convento de Meztitlán, Hidalgo. A lo largo del texto se presenta el uso de la imagen de los agustinos para mostrar la unión entre los frailes y la zona, así como el uso de elementos indígenas para fomentar el mensaje católico. La primera parte muestra la iconografía de una pintura ubicada en el refectorio de ese establecimiento. En la segunda, se analiza el sentido iconográfico y la relación con la emblemática de la época de dos imágenes del cubo de la escalera del convento conocidas como Triunfo de la Castidad y Triunfo de la Paciencia.
其他摘要：This article studies three sixteenth-century mural paintings in the monastery at Meztitlán, Hidalgo. The text as a whole deals with the Augustinians’ use of the image and demonstrates the union between the friars and the region, as well as the use of indigenous elements to help put across the Catholic message. The first part focuses on the iconography of a painting situated in the refectory of the monastery, while the second examines the iconographic significance of two images from the stair-well of the monastery and their relation to the emblematics of the period; known as Triumph of Chastity and Triumph of Patience.
