摘要：Los primeros folios del Códice Vaticano A contienen una sección cosmogónica donde se incluyen imágenes que pueden considerarse únicas dentro del repertorio mesoamericano. Su originalidad radica tanto en la forma como en el contenido, como se aprecia en la imagen del cielo, primera del documento. Después de analizar las tradiciones de representación del cielo en los contextos indígena y europeo, concluyo que la imagen del códice no es el último vestigio de la cultura nahua que sobrevivió a la destrucción cristiana, sino que fue la misma tradición escolástica la que influyó de manera determinante en su construcción. La obra se plantea como un complejo proceso creativo, colectivo y multicultural con el que se imprime un nuevo rostro al cielo; el cielo del Nuevo Mundo gestado con los trazos del pincel indígena.
其他摘要：The first folios of the Codex Vaticanus A include a cosmogological section containing images that can be regarded as unique in the Mesoamerican repertoire. Its originality lies in both the form and the content, as can be appreciated in the image representing the sky; the first of the document. After analyzing different traditional representations of the sky in indigenous and European contexts, I conclude that—far from being the last vestige of Nahua culture to survive the Christian destruction—the image of the codex is a new construct influenced decisively by the scholastic tradition. The work is conceived as a complex creative process, collective and multicultural, through which a new face is given to the sky; the sky of the New World gestated by indigenous brushstrokes.
