摘要：La función del sistema nervioso es mantener la homeostasis de un organismo, generando un gran y complejo repertorio de respuestas a los estímulos. La atención, la memoria y la motivación son esenciales para generar dicha respuestas, sin embargo en los seres humanos estas funciones están modificadas en gran medida por el lenguaje. Este es la clave del hombre, lo saca de la unidad original con la naturaleza y lo convierte en humano en la relación con el otro que se da en el lenguaje. Es necesario entender la real importancia del lenguaje más allá de la significación del símbolo. Otro factor importante en la regulación funcional de un organismo son las emociones, son estas las que nos permiten regular la posibilidad de respuestas frente a un estímulo. Ambos las emociones y el lenguaje son funcionalmente necesarios para nuestro coexistir como seres humanos.
