摘要：In this work we analyze the reasons that hinder the arrival of the digital home. To this end, we study the evolution of technology and demographic and housing changes over the last decade, contrasting the forecasts made at the time with the complex reality that finally happened. During this time, the real estate sector experienced one of its greatest growth periods, but, paradoxically, the technological innovation was barely significant in this industry. The changes in the composition of families together with a greater cultural openness towards new ways of inhabiting also brought new opportunities to the home automation market, which so far has not been capable to achieve a significant success. Finally, we provide some explanatory keys and future prospects.
