  • 摘要:Importance of finger millet for their high nutritional value made our interest in this area. Identification and characterization of different germplasm of finger millet is necessary for their evaluation. Morphological and physiological characterizations are well known methods for identification of different germplasm but at some points it is hard to distinguish two different germplasm. Phosphorus has been the major nutrient which is deficient in most of the Indian soils and therefore responsiveness of different varieties may also be hampered. Present study was conducted to overcome this problem by using seven different phosphate transporter based SSR markers for identification of fourty seven different varieties of finger millet. Finger print analysis showed that varieties 14 and 31 (VHC3752 and PRM1 Ragi), 44 and 46 (PRM 6118 Ragi and PRM 6122 Ragi) and 39 and 40 (Ragi local Korchara and PRM 5103) were closely placed where as varieties 1(VHC 3611) and 6 (VHC3972) were very distantly placed in phylogenetic tree. Which also confirmed by PCA analysis of obtained fingerprint. Present study could be used for characterization of different finger millet varieties in a quick and correct way.
