摘要：My Life on Earth and Elsewhere is R. Murray Schafer’s autobiography. Murray Schafer is a talented composer, music educator, writer, and painter, and he is one of the few Canadian composers of classical music whose reputation has spread beyond the borders of Canada. Moreover, Schafer has won the Best Classical Composition in Juno Award four times since 1987. Because of his renown,, Porcupine’s Quill Publishing Company invited Schafer to write an autobiography to celebrate his eightieth birthday. The result, My Life on Earth and Elsewhere, marks a milestone in Schafer’s life. Like any other memoir, My Life on Earth and Elsewhere proceeds chronologically, tracing Schafer’s youth and describing his travels through Europe in the 1950s and 1960s, before focusing primarily on his career as a freelance composer and educator.
