To round out its study of energy issues in cities, EIFER is using a systemic approach focused on decentralised energy production (electricity and heat produced in a local area to fulfil its needs) and road traffic – two main sources of air pollution for residents of large metropolitan areas. This structural approach should enable us to determine the impact of urban planning on air quality and health at a city scale.
