摘要：The paper has taken a critical view of various approaches of language teaching, each of which may has its advantages and disadvantages. By analyzing these approaches and objectives of college English teaching, the writer tries to develop an eclectic method of language teaching strategy, which includes formal instruction and communicative activates. The respective role of teachers and students is also discussed in this paper.
