  • 摘要:Adsorption of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of different adsorptives such as: benzene, toluene, p-xilene, carbon tetrachcloride, chlorobenzene, chloroform, n-hexane, n-heptane, n-octane and n-nonane on a clay specimen of the state of Puebla, México, labeled as NaBeCalite have been determined through the gas chromatographic technique at different temperatures. The Freundlich adsorption model has been used to process all isotherm data in the ranges of temperatures studied. The isosteric heats of adsorption have been estimated through the Clausius-Clapeyron equation; these curves exhibit the following decreasing order with respect to the VOC adsorbed amount: (i) for cyclic compounds such as benzene, toluene and p-xylene (BTX compounds) the order is: p-xylene > toluene > benzene; (ii) for chloro compounds the corresponding sequence is chloroform > carbon tetrachloride > chlorobenzene; (iii) finally for n-alkanes, the decreasing adsorption sequence is: nnonane > n-octane > n-heptane > n-hexane. These results indicate a selective adsorption of pxylene and n-nonane on NaBeCalite with respect to the remaining adsorptives.
