摘要:In Mexico the information about the quantity and the composition of urban solid wastes is scarce, since there does not exist a permanent monitoring system with these parameters. The available solid waste generation and composition data come from investigations performed in urban zones, for this reason there is a greater lack of knowledge with regard to these parameters in rural zones. The object of this investigation was to analyze the generation and composition of solid wastes in eight rural municipalities located along the outskirts of lake Cuitzeo in Mexico. The sampling took place in residential and nonresidential sources. A poll was taken in order to learn about the socio-economic characteristics of the area. Each dumpsite in the zone was located and its surface area measured. Solid waste samples were collected from each site to determine the site’s volumetric weight and to quantify the amount of accumulated solid wastes. The results showed generation rates that were statistically different between each municipality and the quantities less than those previously reported for urban areas, however, the sub products that were found indicate similar consumption patterns to those of urban areas.
