摘要：This work is a review of some previous factors involved in bioethanol production. The first part focuses on the substrates that are being used for the production of bioethanol from the last decade to date, and to pretreatments applied to some substrates to promote the release of fermentable sugars present in them. Few comments are made about bioethanol production legislations in some countries, the required characteristics for its use as liquid fuel and some barriers that limit their production. It is shown that the production of bioethanol is a complex problem that is influenced by social, political and technological aspects.
