Pero no es una fatalidad sino un destino", dice Frei Betto en este articulo, en el que denuncia la violencia y el armamentismo que se ha apoderado del planeta y la moda de los raps duros, los Schwarzennegger-Terminators, los juegos electrónicos que hacen de la muerte un juguete y aun los deportes que emulan las cruentas luchas de los gladiadores romanos. "Desde 1988 — afirma el teólogo de la liberación brasileño—las guerras mataron 2 millones de jóvenes menores de 18 años, dejando 5 millones de lisiados y 1 millón de huérfanos."
