摘要："El neoliberalismo es el nuevo carácter del viejo capitalismo", escribe el escritor brasileño Frei Betto al inicio de este ensayo, en el que desmitifica críticamente la historia de este sistema social que se gesta en el medievo, tiene sus primeras luces en el Renacimiento y adquiere fuerza hegemónica en el mundo a partir de la Revolución Industrial del siglo XIX. Su explicación del neoliberalismo y la denuncia de sus efectos desastrosos en la sociedad global contemporánea, particularmente para las clases populares, tiene un profundo contenido de carácter ético, y estético.
其他摘要："Neoliberalism is the new character of the old capitalism", the Brazilian writer Frei Betto writes at the beginning of this essay, in which he critically demystifies the history of this social system which originated in the Middle Ages. It first saw light in the Renaissance and acquired its global hegemonic strength at the start of the Industrial Revolution in the nineteenth century. This article's explanation of neoliberalism, denouncing its disastrous effects upon global contemporary society, particularly for the poorer classes; contains profound ethical and aesthetic character.
