摘要:Mobile ecosystems constitute a clear example of emerging business models promoting openness and collaboration with external agents. The results of the empirical analysis presented in this paper reveal that (i) firms competing in the mobile industry must involve external resources in their business models in order to enact dynamic capabilities, (ii) there exists a strong relationship between the intensity of external resources incorporated and the ability of the firm to create value according to markets’ expectations, (iii) there exist a strong relationship between the intensity of external resources and the final value delivered to consumers. As a result this paper finds evidence of the importance of open business models to articulate the dynamic capabilities to adapt to the market, extract economic value and reconfigure its internal resources.
