摘要：O processo de compreensão do espaço geográfico é indispensável nas análises das Ciências Humanas. Assim, o ambiente urbano se converteu no principal local de moradia da sociedade brasileira. Nesse espaço, cada vez mais conflituosos, a violência e a insegurança urbana tornaram-se pautas recorrentes, chegando, nos últimos anos, aos bancos acadêmicos, inclusive na Geografia. Este artigo focaliza a violência e a insegurança em Cornélio Procópio, no Norte Pioneiro do Paraná. Apesar da abordagem em escala local, a situação apresentada é recorrente, em âmbito geral, a diversos espaços, em diferentes escalas – global, nacional, regional e em espaços metropolitanos e não-metropolitanos. De forma geral, o Norte do Paraná tem a gênese pela formação socioespacial e as transformações econômicas ocorridas nos últimos cinquenta anos alteraram os papéis e significados dos núcleos urbanos, inclusive voltado à perda de centralidade, entre elas, a segurança.
其他摘要：The understanding process of the geographical space is essential in the analysis of Human Sciences. So, the urban environment has become the main place of residence of Brazilian society. In this space, increasingly conflicted, urban violence and insecurity have become recurring guidelines, arriving in recent years, at the academic benches, including Geography. This article focuses on the violence and insecurity in Cornelio Procopio, Northern of Paraná. Although the approach at the local level, the presented situation is recurring, generally under the different spaces at different scales - global, national, regional and metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas. Overall, the North of Paraná has the genesis by the formation and socioeconomic changes of the last fifty years, changing the roles and meanings of urban centers, including facing the loss of centrality, among them security.
