摘要：Osmanlý Ýmparatorluðu'nun üç kýtaya yayýlan topraklarý her dönemde Batý dünyasýnýn ilgi alaný olmuþtur. Bunun en önemli sebebi de imparatorluðun doðudan batýya akan ticaret yollarýna hâkim olmasýdýr. Batý dünyasý gücüne raðmen uzun bir dönem Osmanlý topraklarýna nüfuz edememiþtir. Bunun yerine misyonerleri kullanmýþ ve Osmanlý topraklarýnda yaþamlarýný sürdüren Hýristiyan azýnlýklar üzerinden bu topraklarda nüfuzlarýný sürdürme gayreti içinde olmuþtur. Tercümesini yapmýþ olduðumuz gezi notlarýnýn sahibi Victor Chapod da böyle bir amaç için görevlendirilmiþ bir Fransýz misyoneridir. Osmanlý topraklarýnda yaptýðý gezi Ýskenderun limanýndan baþlayarak güneye Suriye'nin çeþitli kentlerine doðru devam etmiþ, Fýrat nehrini takip ederek Anadolu topraklarýna girerek Urfa, Maraþ gibi büyük þehirlerinde sürmüþ ve yine Ýskenderun'da sona ermiþtir.
其他摘要：Stretching into three continents, the lands of the Ottoman Empire had attracted the attention of the West. The most important cause of this interest was the fact that the Ottomans controlled the trade roads between the east and the west. Despite its strength, the Western influence could not penetrate into the Ottoman lands for a long time. Instead, the West used the Christian missionaries to influence the Christian minorities in the Ottoman Empire. The travel notes we translated here belongs to Victor Chapod, a French missionary, tasked with a duty. His trip started Iskenderun port and continued southward into Syrian cities. He then followed the Euphrates toward north, entered Anatolia and visited major regional cities of Urfa (Edessa) and Marash before he finalized his trip in Iskenderun.
