摘要:Using the Intellectual Capital approach through a composite index supported on human and structural intangibles or dimensions we determine the economic and social capacities of European cities. This measure is consistent with the "new economics" argument that knowledge spillovers are geographically bounded and that, by driving productivity growth, they also drive local growth. In this paper, we showed a comparison between 158 cities of 24 countries with information available from urban audit database. We built a European cities ranking, where we study differences and similarities between cities and countries classified by geographical clusters to establish a pattern of knowledge based city in Europe. In other hand, results of index values show a divergence growth, cities with higher values on this index are those with higher development. European cities are competing for the attraction of wealth in a divergent scenario, in which human capital is the main differential component.
