摘要：The aim of the paper is to underline the importance of innovation for Romania – a catching up country within the European Union. By several comparisons with other European countries, Romania proves to be one of the last ranking countries in the innovation field, according to different benchmarking systems. Seen in the integration process context, innovation is one opportunity that Romania cannot miss because it is the only way of reducing differences between itself and the other members.
