摘要：The global economic crisis has brought again to the world’s attention the role of one of the main world financial institutions: the International Monetary Fund. Seriously affected by this crisis from the economic point of view, some developing countries have borrowed money from the International Monetary Fund. In its turn, the institution is experiencing new challenges due to economic downturn, and as a result it took a series of actions focused on the adaptation to the new situation. This paper aims to outline the main elements characterizing the International Monetary Fund’s activity, including the new ones interferred in its policy. The paper also includes the actions taken on the occasion of the G20 organization summits, that contributed to the rise of the International Monetary Fund’s role at present.
