摘要：The study aims to analyze the dynamics of public expenditure produced within the European Union, especially in Romania, and Member States' budgetary choices, given the challenges faced during 2008 - 2013 due to the installation of austerity caused by the global economic crisis. It is also mentioned the steps taken by our country in order to optimize public spending and the strategies adopted to overcome difficult moments and economic recovery. The article deals mainly with structural evolution of public expenditure in terms of economic classification.
