摘要：O artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre a articulação entre carreira eclesiástica e mobilidade social em uma sociedade escravista de Antigo Regime. Para tanto, pretende-se analisar as injunções da Igreja na promoção de um clero nativo na América portuguesa e a constituição de redes de sociabilidades que, articuladas em torno de valores hierárquicos cristãos, formularam es tratégias para melhor posicionar na escala social os indivíduos a elas pertencentes. Com efeito, pr ocurarei demonstrar que o processo de sacramentalização da sociedade projetado pela Reforma Tridentina, mesmo com seus limites, encontrou certa legitim idade quando visto por grupos e indivíduos como fator de projeção de seus interesses políticos e de representação social. Neste sentido, o processo de diferenciação soci al promovido pela expa nsão do escravismo colonial exigiu a constante reformulação da s hierarquias e a consagração de espaços distintos para indivíduos oriundos de uniõe s mestiças que não se concebiam no mesmo patamar destinado aos escravos. São estas questões que emergem das trajetórias dos sacerdotes analisadas neste artigo, permitindo uma compreensão mais complexa da sociedade escravista cristã que se constituiu na América lusa.
其他摘要：The article aims to reflect on the relati onship between ecclesiastical career and social mobility in a slave society of the Ol d Regime. To this end, we intend to analyze the injunctions of th e Church in promoting a native clergy in Portuguese America and the establishment of networ ks of sociability that articulated around Christian hierarchical values, formulated strategi es to better position on the social ladder individuals belonging to them. Indeed, try to demonstr ate that the process of sacramentalization society designed by Triden tine Reform, even with its limitations, found some legitimacy when viewed by groups and individuals as a projection of their political and social representation factor . In this sense, the process of social differentiation promoted by the expansion of colonial slavery re quired the constant reformulation of hierarchies and the consecra tion of distinct spaces for individuals from mixed race marriages that are not conceived at the same level for the slaves. These are issues that emerge from the trajectories of the priests analyzed in this article, allowing for a more complex understanding of the Christian slave society that was formed in Portuguese America.
