摘要：En la línea abierta por Villa (1995) de Luis Gusmán, El secreto y las voces (2005) de Carlos Gamerro vuelve sobre el problema de la responsa- bilidad civil en el secuestro y la desaparición forzada de personas durante la última dictadura en Argentina. Desplazando el eje del relato de la responsabi- lidad individual a la responsabilidad colectiva, la novela de Gamerro hace de la “investigación” un dispositivo literario y se sirve de algunas convenciones del género policial no tanto para conducirnos a la resolución de un enigma sino para explorar críticamente el funcionamiento del “secreto” como instancia privile- giada de producción y circulación del sentido, tanto en el espacio de aquellos años, como en el inquietante y urgente presente vivo del recuerdo. Las voces que a instancias del narrador va tejiendo el relato se disponen a evocar ese y otros sucesos signi fi cativos, componiendo un complejo entramado cuyo interés se cifra no solo en la indagación de la responsabilidad de cada cual sino en los modos singulares de articulación y producción de un saber con fl ictivo que –en la forma de un “secreto a voces”– contribuyó a sostener colectivamente el sinies- tro accionar de los militares en el poder.

Moving t he a x is of t he stor y from ind ividua l responsibility to collective responsibility, the novel envolves “investigation” as a literary device and uses some conventions of the detective genre not so much to lead to resolution of an enigma but to explore critically the operation of secrecy as a privileged instance in the production and circulation of meaning, both in the space of those years, as in the disturb- ing and urgent living memory of today. Th e voices at the behest of the narrator weaves the story set out to evoke that and other signifi cant events, composing a complex fi gure whose interest relays not only in the investigation of the responsibility of each person but in the unique modes of articulation and production a confl icting knowledge that –in the form of secret– collectively helped to sustain the military actions in power.
