摘要：Este estudio fenomenológico exploró la cosmovisión de diez personas guatemaltecas no creyentes, en el contexto de una sociedad patriarcal mayoritariamente cristiana. Se incluyeron dos mujeres y ocho hombres ladinos entre 20 y 55 años de edad, de clase media a alta, con educación universitaria. Se recabaron los datos a través de entrevistas semi estructuradas, un cuestionario escrito y un dibujo. Los temas comunes encontrados fueron: un proceso para llegar a construir su cosmovisión; la construcción de su propio propósito en la vida; un aprecio por la vida al creer que todo termina con la muerte; el razonamiento como herramienta básica para conducir su vida; un código moral con base en no hacer a los otros lo que no desean que les hagan; dificultad en la comunicación con la mayoría religiosa. Es importante que los profesionales de salud mental y la sociedad guatemalteca en general conozcan la perspectiva de esta minoría excluida.
其他摘要：This phenomenological study explored ten Guatemalan nonbelievers’ worldview, within the context of a highly religious, predominantly Christian, patriarcal society. The sample included two women and eight men, all ladinos, between 20 and 55 years of age, ranging from middle to upper class, with university-level studies. The data were obtained through semi structured interviews, a written questionnaire and a drawing. The common themes found were: a process to build their current worldview; a self-built purpose for existence; an appreciation of life based on the conviction that there is nothing beyond death; the use of reasoning as a basic tool to lead their lives; a moral code based on not doing to others what they do not want others to do to them; and a difficulty to communicate with the religious majority. It is important for mental health professionals and Guatemalan society in general to learn about this excluded minority’s perspective.
