摘要：Este artículo contiene un estudio de investigación teórico que interpreta el aprendizaje y la comprensión de los objetos matemáticos desde una posición ontológica respecto a su naturaleza. Se asocia la naturaleza de los objetos matemáticos con su origen funcional y, a partir de esta funcionalidad, se constituyen los aspectos de representación y significado que configuran el objeto matemático. La representación permite la expresión y uso del objeto. El significado atiende a la interpretación del objeto. El conjunto de interpretaciones que se pueden asociar a un objeto por la funcionalidad que representa configura su significado. El aprendizaje de un objeto matemático atiende al aspecto representacional que le configura y al desarrollo de un significado personal sobre este desde las experiencias del individuo con el objeto. Finalmente, la comprensión de los objetos matemáticos es el reconocimiento de la funcionalidad organizativa o interpretativa del contexto que representa el objeto y el desarrollo de la capacidad de uso de esta funcionalidad.
