摘要：El objetivo del trabajo es determinar la edad de un árbol histórico. El mismo se encuentra en la Casa del natal de Facundo Quiroga (1788- 1835), sitio histórico donde vivió el caudillo en la localidad de La Fortuna, Llanos de La Rioja, Provincia La Rioja, Argentina. El árbol histórico pertenece a la especie Prosopis chilensis Mol Sección Algarrobia y serie: Chilensis, familia Mimosaceae. Ante la imposibilidad de cortar el árbol para determinar su edad se ideó una metodología alternativa que consiste en estudiar la respuesta de los anillos en árboles añosos del sitio de estudio. Relacionando el espesor de anillo, se determinó la edad del árbol histórico que fue de 221 años (nacido en 1779), por lo tanto existió en el período histórico que se considera.
