摘要：Los estudios comparados sobre coalicionespresidenciales de gobierno se han concentra-do en el análisis de los factores institucionalesy políticos que estimulan su formación. La-mentablemente, no existen estudios que exa-minen la supervivencia de las coaliciones degobierno. El presente artículo estudia los go-biernos de coalición formados en Argentina,Brasil, Bolivia, Chile y Uruguay durante losaños ochenta y noventa, y ofrece una expli-cación sobre la desigual duración de los mis-mos. La hipótesis principal del trabajo sostie-ne que la supervivencia de las coaliciones de-pende de la influencia del mandato fijo pre-sidencial, las características de la coalición (ta-maño y número de componentes) y la exis-tencia de algunas instituciones como las cir-cunscripciones electorales pequeñas. El estu-dio ofrece evidencia que confirma la hipóte-sis, al tiempo que abre una discusión sobre lasestrategias de construcción de coaliciones pre-sidenciales.
其他摘要：AbstractThe comparative studies about presidentialcoalitions have focused in the analysis ofthe institutional and political factors thataffect the building of the government.Unfortunately, the survival of the coalitionshas not been studied in depth. This articleanalyzes the government coalitions formedin five countries of the region since 1980(Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile andUruguay). The main hypothesis indicatesthat the survival of coalitions depends onthe fixed presidential terms, the size of thecoalitions, the number of coalition-membersand the presence of some institutional ruleslike the magnitude of the districts. Theevidence found confirms the hypothesisand open the debate about the strategies ofbuilding presidential coalitions.
