摘要：Para traducir a un autor clásico, es necesaria una interpretación. Este artículo seinterroga por la lectura de Max Weber que hicieron los traductores deEconomía ysociedady deHistoria económica general. Más específicamente, se enfoca en tresproblemas: el intento de definir un vocabulario especializado para las ciencias socia-les en español, la necesidad de una homogeneización cuando varias personas traducenpartes de un mismo libro, como es el caso deEconomía y sociedad, posiblementedesde interpretaciones distintas del autor, y las consecuencias para las dos versionesaquí analizadas de que los autores vinieran de un mismo entorno intelectual en el queel interés en Weber había sido limitado. El artículo concluye con una reflexión sobrelas causas anteriores al exilio en México de los traductores, que explicarían las defi-ciencias en la traducción y, en general, del vocabulario especializado científico-socialen español.
其他摘要：In this article I pose the question of which reading of Weber was favored by the Spanishémigrés that translatedEconomy and SocietyandGeneral Economic Historyduringtheir exile in Mexico. The contribution focuses on the definition of a specializedterminology for the social sciences, and on the unification of the vocabulary in eachof the two translations. The article’s main claim is that the inability to detect Weber’sfundamental concepts and translate them consistently into Spanish is a consequenceof both an inappropriate translation and copy-editing process, and of an inadequateunderstanding of Weber’soeuvre. The article suggests that one of the causes is thatSpanish philosophers, legal philosophers, and political economists were less interestedin Weber than in some of his contemporaries, such as Werner Sombart, and otherscholars who were more concerned with Marx. Since the translation has never beenthoroughly revised, these criticisms are also relevant for the 2014 Mexican editionofEconomy and Society.
