摘要：Como en el caso de otros animales sociales, la búsqueda de estatus es un imperativo motivacional para los humanos, ya que una posición grupal favorable beneficiaría la supervivencia y la reproducción. La antropología y la psicología evolucionistas han identificado la existencia de dos estrategias de búsqueda de estatus entre los humanos: la dominancia y el prestigio cultural. En este trabajo se ha traducido una escala de estatus social autopercibido, se ha probado la fiabilidad de sus subescalas y se han aplicado análisis exploratorios y confirmatorios de factores para corroborar la estructura de la medición en dos muestras hispanohablantes (Madrid, España, y San José, Costa Rica). Como resultados se observó que algunos ítems establecieron bajas correlaciones con sus respectivas subescalas, por lo que debieron ser retirados; por otra parte, los análisis exploratorio y confirmatorio de factores mostraron que una estructura bidimensional constituía la mejor disponible para entender el modo en el cual las personas comprendieron los ítems presentados aunque los indicadores estadísticos obtenidos sugieren que aún no se cuenta con un modelo completamente aceptable. Futuros trabajos podrán mejorar la medición ahondando en cómo los humanos entienden los procesos de búsqueda de estatus y cómo se ubican a sí mismos dentro de ellos.
其他摘要：As is the case in social animals that seek social status, pursuit of status is also a motivational imperative for humans because a favorable group position benefits survival and reproduction. Evolutionary perspectives in anthropology and psychology have acknowledged the existence of two status-seeking strategies in humans: Dominance and cultural prestige. In the present work a self-perceived social status scale was translated from English to Spanish, the subscales’ reliability was tested and exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were applied in order to test the structure of the scale in two Spanish-speaking samples (Madrid, Spain, and San José, Costa Rica). Results indicate that some items correlate lowly with their respective subscales and they had to be omitted from the analysis. On the other hand, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses showed that a bi-dimensional structure is the best option available to identify the way in which people understand the group of items but statistical indicators suggest that a completely acceptable model is still lacking. Future work could improve measurement and advance our understanding regarding status-seeking processes and how humans take part in that process.
