摘要：Based on little-known sources and previously unknown archive documents, this article studies the influence of the First World War on the development of social initiatives in Siberia. The author concludes that in the wartime period the degree and character of people’s involvement into the work of charitable societies underwent positive quantitative and qualitative changes. The number and activity of voluntary social associations are seen as a qualitative factor of the civil society.
