摘要:The article considers relationship between the emperor Nikolai I and Count Ye. F. Kankrin, Russia’s Minister of Finance in 1823-1844. The authors analyze main results of the cooperation between the tsar and the head of his finance ministry, the reforms in the monetary, tax, credit and industrial fields initiated by the Minister, cite testimonies by the contemporaries on Kankrin’s personality and make conclusions about positive result from combined activities of this duo. The article studies biographical facts about Yegor Frantsevich Kankrin, main stages in his life, and peculiarities of his character. It also analyzes the measures he had taken, evaluation of the Minister’s work by the Emperor, professional features of the Minister, and his relationship with other members of the Russian nobility in the years spent in the office of the Minister of Finance.
