  • 摘要:Objective: comparison of anthropometric methods in the determination of the nutritional status, body fat percentage and cardiovascular risk in gym goers. Materials and Methods: collection of primary data of 47 adults, being performed calculations of BMI, CI, WHR and fat percentage. Results: BMI by 37% of men had nutritional status of overweight and 13% of obesity, for women 53% as fitted in the overweight and obesity in 10%. According to the fat percentage, 31% of men and 80% of women had body fat above recommended. The risk for CVD occurred, in accordance with the WC, in 19% of men and 50% of women, according to the WHR only 6% of men, and according to the Index C in 13% of men and 40% for women. Discussion: the comparison of BMI and fat percentage in some men classified as overweight by BMI were taken as normal by calculating in the fat percentage, and the same comparison for women, we observed the opposite result. The method had a greater discriminatory power for CVD was the WC, followed by the CI and WHR. Conclusion: BMI adoption can generate imprecise evaluations when used alone, there are controversies about which of the anthropometric indicators has greater sensitivity to detect risk for CVD. Key words: Anthropometry, Body Weights and Measures, Body composition.
