摘要:The objective of this article is to use existing company surveys (ibw 2008, CVTS3) to examine some aspects of CVET as well as access to continuing education and training according to different industrial sectors. The focus is on industry-specific differences: The 2008 ibw company survey found that approximately 88 percent of all banking and insurance businesses provided continuing education and training throughout the 2007 business year, whereas only 12 percent of businesses in the building industry provided comparable services. There are clear differences behind these figures regarding the learning forms used and the functional incorporation of educational work – from the updating of qualifications to incentives for good performances. Industry-specific differences in terms of obstacles to continuing education and training can be seen in the costs of employee absenteeism, i.e. the indirect costs, but also in course fees, in the lack of funding and the risk of brain drain. Therefore, the role of continuing education and training clearly differs in the industrial sectors and thus in the working population‘s access to continuing education and training as well. In order to counter this, incentives for specialized and interdisciplinary public educational funding and promotion are indispensable for broad participation in education and training.
