摘要:This article gives insight into the development, legal basis and numbers of participants of the schools for people in work (Schulen für Berufstätige in German) that have provided their participants with the opportunity to obtain a systematic, diploma-oriented education besides working since the 1970s and 1980s. Legislative reform in 2010 brought about a modularization of educational programmes and the creation of what are called module units (Modulverbände in German). The new legislation also includes learning coaching measures, which has led to a significant decline in drop-out rates in 2011 and 2012. A look at degree courses at universities for applied sciences for people in work, preparatory courses for the higher education entrance examination for persons having completed their vocational training, university graduate programmes and distance-learning courses round off this survey.
