摘要：Historically, Austrian Bildungsäuser (Bildungshäuser are educational centres with the opportunity of overnight staying) are rooted in the Danish and German residential adult education centers (Heimvolkshochschulen in German) of the second half of the 19th century. What general statements can be made about the future of Austrian Bildungshäuaser? From the perspective of the Network of Austrian Bildungshäuser (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bildungshäuser Österreich, ARGE BHÖ in German) and its 19 member institutions, this article attempts to determine the challenges they all face - no easy task, considering the rich diversity of Bildungshäuser which, depending on the educational mandate of the respective educational provider, cover the entire spectrum of topics in general adult education. The following future requirements could be identified: the state-of-the-art technological equipping of Bildungshäuser, the development of a modern educational program, and the cooperation with other educational providers- illustrated by specific good practice examples, as well as by highlighting areas of development and needs for action.
