  • 摘要:The growth of the internet and the proliferation of computer technology have created new opportunities for those who engage in criminal and illegal activities. It has resulted in dramatic increase in emergence of new criminal activity which poses challenges to legal systems as well as for law enforcement. Today most computers all over the world are interconnected and a person in one country can easily commit a cyber crime in another country without even being physically present in that country where the crime was committed. Wireless technology will make it easier for a criminal to commit crime of a borderless nature. The most difficult question is with regard to the legal jurisdiction in Africa because many issues on Internet cannot be managed by the existing principles of jurisdiction. The aim of the study was to assess the efforts by African countries in developing common jurisdiction in fighting cyber crime. The study revealed that, Africa and the rest of the world should cooperate quickly to preserve essential evidence and to track and apprehend perpetrators. Cybercrime is a borderless and transnational crime, and solving the issue of cyber jurisdiction requires nations to work on harmonizing substantive laws and fostering cooperation between law enforcement agencies worldwide. The approach should also involve governments, industry, strong civil society organizations and to a large extent security agencies
