摘要：The paper analyzes the functions of an ideology in the contemporary society. The author highlights such func- tions, as: consolidation , goal - setting , management, le- gitimation, axiological, and communicative . In addition , the negative consequences of consciousness manipu- lation are stated. The conclusion of S.G. Kara - Murza is drawn, that for Russia the transition to the manipulative type of authority would mean the change of language, thinking and culture in general (indirect genocide).
