  • 摘要:This article describes the situation of training and development in medium and big size firms in Catalonia from an economical and organizational point of view. The article is based on results from an empirical and descriptive research based on a cross-section sample (106) of medium and large companies with headquarters in Catalonia. As a conclusion, it is important to say that the consolidation of training departments in the organizational structure of a company, the importance of the size of the organization and the nature and nationality of its shareholders are able to explain the structure and importance of the training departments. It is also important to pinpoint the significant differences between the several types of organization and the role of training. It is finally clear the importance of subsidized training as a catalyst for training investment and also the very little effort done by companies to assess economical impact of training investments.
