摘要：This paper focusses on the contribution of Applied Linguistics (AL) to the design of the Brazilian Foreign Language National Curriculum. It is argued that the central contribution relates to the AL concern with the design of language syllabuses on the basis of explicit theoretical principles. It shows how the so-called Transversal Themes of the Foreign Language Syllabus are clearly anchored on a sociointeractional theoretical view of the nature of language, which underlies the syllabus.
