摘要：O bilinguismo cresce no Brasil como um fenômeno e como uma tendência. Às vezes, no entanto, uma tendência pode ser confundida com um modismo a ser seguido por estar acontecendo em todos os lugares. Neste trabalho, analiso o contexto no qual o bilinguismo cresce, as razões aparentes de seu crescimento e para onde parece se direcionar. Ao longo do trabalho, farei referências ao (i) conceito de bilinguismo, muito debatido hoje em dia, (ii) as características ideais de uma escola bilíngue no contexto Brasileiro e (iii) os aspectos linguísticos de se utilizar uma L2 para instrução, que, em geral, são deixados fora da equação. Ao final do trabalho, faço uma reflexão acerca da importância de se propiciar à criança no contexto bilíngue um tipo de input ótimo, a fim de maximizar as chances de um aprendiz de desenvolver uma L2 o mais próximo possível da língua-alvo.
其他摘要：Bilingualism grows in Brazil as a phenomenon and as a tendency. Sometimes, though, this may come across as a new trend to be followed because it is very happening. In this paper, I analyze the context in which bilingualism grows, the seeming reasons that it is still growing and where it seems to be heading. Throughout the paper, I refer to the (i) concept of bilingualism, which is highly debatable, (ii) the ideal characteristics of a bilingual school in the Brazilian context, and (iii) the linguistic aspects of using an L2 for instruction, which are usually left out of the loop. Towards the end of the paper, I bring in a reflection on the importance of providing the child in the bilingual context with optimal input as a means of maximizing the chances of a learner to acquire and develop an L2 that is as close to the target language as possible.
