摘要:The concept of cu ltura l capital ha s received widespread a ttention all around the w orld. O ne of the ma in stre ngths of the theor y of c ultu ra l c a pita l is tha t it does to some extent focu s on how struc tu res a nd institutions play a part in producing inequa lity. The reproduction of these inequalities is argued b y Bourdieu to be fac ilita ted in schools. This article re por ts on how the tw o universities under stu dy ha ve formulated migra ting interventions a imed at na rrow ing achievement gap of students with different cultural ca pitals. Using a desktop and conte nt a nalysis approaches, the article re ports on intervention str ategies such a s Founda tion progr ammes, Peer Assisted Learning (PAL), Academic literacy programmes among others a nd show how they have been implemented in the par ticipating institutions. T he ar ticle concludes tha t re te ntion of students fr om diverse bac k grounds is assisted by innova tive curricula and su pport services which reflect the needs and interests of those students.
