摘要:The pu rpose of the study is to eva luate the impac t of self- eva lua tion in the aca demic progra mmes of universities of Technology. Forty- five heads of departments from four universities were used as participants of the study. The r esults showed tha t in the qu est for modernity, H igher Educa tion I nstitutions should invest mu ch time in the prepar ation of self- evalua tion. The study fur ther proposed tha t the findings of the se lf-evalua tion process be u sed to be nc hma rk faculties, a nd depar tments at H igher Educa tion Institutions, but a lso institutions should be able to benchmark with other quality models worldwide to share best pra ctices. T he findings of this study have confir med and affir med the importa nce of institutional self- evaluation in building and enhancing a quality cultu re within univer sitie s. Coming up w ith a prescriptive model w ou ld be a serious misjudgement a s qu ality indica tors ar e based on different principles in var ious institutions. In suppor ting the model proc ess, the re sear ch has not pr opose d any pa rticula r mode l so tha t aca demics will not fee l bound to a structure c oming fr om certain legislative requirements a s pa rt of the higher educa tion quality committee criteria that serve a s a blueprint for any qua lity ma tters a t institutions.
