摘要:A collegial school environment is one in which tea chers are able to work well with other teachers a s well as with their Princ ipals. Colle giality grea tly influences teac he rs' morale, commitment, job sa tisfaction a nd per formanc e. The e fficiency and effec tiveness of a ny school de pends on ever y tea che r's a bility to wo rk with others. This study sought to investiga te if a positive correla tion does exist between teacher involv ement in school based decision-ma king processes and collegia l intera ction. The stu dy adopted an inter pretive qu alita tive resear ch methodology a nd a case study resea rch design. A purposive convenient sample of 5 school heads and 20 seconda ry sc hool teachers formed the study. Da ta wa s collecte d through fa ce-to-face intervie ws, documentary an alysis a nd observa tion of two staff meetings pe r school. T he study found that a positive correlation exists betw een teacher partic ipation in critical school based decisions a nd collegia l inte raction. I t was esta blishe d tha t the exclusion of tea chers in strategic a reas in decision ma king ha s led to formation of small cliques in four of the five pa rticipating schools. It wa s indicated that small groups had been formed, some of which were seeking fame from the administration by back biting others
