摘要：The purpose of this study wa s to determine factor s influencing career choice a nd a spira tions among South African students. A qua ntita tive para digm guided this study. A survey method in the form of a structur ed questionnaire was used in this stu dy in order to identify the factors tha t influence ca reer choice a nd aspirations among South Africa n students. A purposive sample of 133 first and second yea r university students (77 fema les, 56 males; age range 15 to 30 yea rs) participated in the study. T he Ca reer Aspira tions Q uestionnaire was used in this study. Car eer Aspirations Q uestionnair e which explored the fa ctors that influence medica l stude nts' ca reer choice and aspirations. Da ta were a nalysed using percentages and tables. T he study found tha t the family; the a bility of the lear ner self to identify his/her prefer red c ar eer choic e; a nd teac he rs we re significant fa ctor s tha t influ ence the ca re er c hoice a nd aspira tions of stude nts. T he implic a tions of the findings a nd pra ctica l co nsider a tions a re discussed in the study.
