摘要:T his article highlights the changes in the conditions of service for teachers in South Africa. Prior to 1994, teachers used to get salary increments without being evaluated. Using Clarke's Situational Ma trix theory, this article explores the conditions of se rvice of tea chers with the Occupational Specific Dispensation in South Afr ica. Occupational Specific D ispensa tion is to ensure efficient and effec tive labour relations a nd improve d conditions of service for educa tor s. O ccupa tional Spec ific Dispe nsa tion, among others, focuses on fifteen core man a gement criteria for assessing performa nce of employees; a nd requires a n employee to have a Personal D evelop ment Pla n (PDP). T he pur pose of the PDP enables the mana ger/princ ipa l and the employe e/e du cator in identifying skills development requirements and to agree on steps to be followe d in a ddressing those gaps
